Following a complaint by a natural person concerning the use of a 118AB number for a service other than telephone information on subscriber numbers, the DTSA (Directorate for Telecommunications and Audiovisual of the CNMC) carried out an inspection and initiated disciplinary proceedings. During the inspection, it was found that, although it was not possible to prove the complainant’s allegations as the telephone recording was not available, the calls showed delays that lengthened the duration of the calls, due to long waiting times and unnecessary questions asked by the different agents (the average time of the calls was between 1 and 9 minutes). For these facts, he was sentenced to a fine of 20,500.00 euros, based on a serious offence as defined in article 77.19 of Law 9/2014, of 9 May.
CNMC Resolution of 24 November 2022: Disciplinary proceedings initiated against Alfa Medios Publicitarios, S.L. for failure to comply with the conditions determining the allocation and granting of the 11810 public numbering resource. SNC/DTSA/166/21.
